Successful Endoscopic Heart Surgery at Habib Bourguiba Hospital in Sfax

Wednesday, January 29, 2025 – In a new milestone that strengthens the leadership of Tunisian medical teams in cardiac surgery, a medical team from the cardiac and vascular surgery department of Habib Bourguiba University Hospital in Sfax successfully removed a benign tumor from the left atrium of the heart using an endoscopic technique, through a small lateral incision in the chest. The surgery was performed on a 76-year-old patient under the supervision of Professor Imad Frikha, head of the cardiac and vascular surgery department, and Professor Abdessalem Hentati, professor of thoracic surgery.
